I voted today. I meant to be the veryfirst person at the polls, but I turned off my alarm and slept an extra fifteen minutes. So it was that I was voter #3. I went into the booth, took a moment to look at the choices, and clicked the tiny levers. I double checked to make sure I hadn't voted for anyone evil by accident, then pulled the lever that registered my vote and opened the curtains all at once. Such a marvelous, theatrical device!

I then waited for Don to vote, and as I did, realized there were no "I Voted Today!" stickers. Come on! It's all about the lever, the swish, and the sticker! And having a say in the political future of our nation. For the record, I think the political future of our nation should include "I Voted Today!" stickers. And perhaps cookies and juice, like you get when you give blood (unless you go to Paramus, NJ, in which case there are no cookies).

Now I'm scouring the web, checking exit polls and catching up on articles at Salon. Also hiding from NaNovel. Don't tell. I just can't concentrate.

There were stickers here! All the faculty came into school already wearing them. They also had horror stories about waiting in lines that stretched all the way down the block for more than an hour.

Gah! Sticker envy!!!

The silver lining to the long lines at the polls is that voter turnout is HUGE!!!!! Frankly, it should be every single election, but...

*grin* When we did our mock election at school, only people early in the day got 'I Voted' stickers. I was so sad. They are necessary!

I got a sticker!! :)

I, too, was rather disappointed at the lack of food. I guess I'd built voting up in my mind, but the actual act seemed not-at-all-special. At least there were tables full of yummiful food at the volunteer place in Mpls this afternoon!

Cookies
Hey, just for the record, there were cookies when I gave blood at Paramus yesterday. That I know because they were on the plate in front of me and calling to me. "Adrienne, come on, just having one won't kill you." But the problem is that I just can't eat one. I want to grab a handful. But I just had juice. Damn it! LOL

My town didn't have stickers either.

No stickers here either. One of the Big partners came into work here yesterday wearing on with his suit and tie which was funny. But I guess since I had no pollsters or party folks hanging 100 feet away and trying to sell me on something as I walked in, that made up for it.
