cooking is an adventure
And stir-frying is an adventure of nearly Indiana-Jones proportions.

Honestly... that intense rush of steam, the near roaring sizzle as you toss the first ingredients in. It is breathtaking. Then, the constant toss of the pan, the lift with utensils... throwing more items in, hurriedly mincing the garlic you nearly forgot, realizing that, in your rhapsodic fervor, you've thrown about three times as many veggies in as you intended.

The moment - an alchemist's dream! - when the sauce turns sleek and glossy, clinging to each bean sprout and broccoli florette.

The quiet after the storm, when you stand and look at your creation, a gloriously structured mess that would do Jackson Pollack proud, and you think:

"We're going to need a bigger wok."

Gosh. That's startlingly similar to my "hmm... can I really stir this without spilling anything... no I guess I can't." of earlier this evening. Except without the steam.
