I finally got word from the countertop folks. Someone showed up on my doorstep this afternoon, clipboard in hand. "We didn't have a phone number for you."

Now, I'm certain we gave them our phone number. As it was, they did have our name and address, so they were able to track us down. If only there were some sort of resource - a document, a book, even - that compiled names and addresses and provided telephone numbers. Or some sort of electronic, information packed database - a series of tubes, mayhap; mystical tubes - that would yield similar intelligence. What a magical world that would be.

Snark aside, it's good news! The House of Stone folk will be delivering and installing our countertops - wait for it - tomorrow afternoon! And the plumber will be here first thing Friday! A fully functioning kitchen is imminent!

!!! (those are the exclamation marks I shan't be using in the next paragraph; pity to let them go to waste)

I'll be doing a lot of washing up. All of the plates and glassware and utensils and appliances that have been stored in my basement will need to be thoroughly scrubbed before they're put into my nice, new cabinets. I still need to choose cabinet hardware. I've a dozen or three things I need to get before I can suss out my flatware storage, my ready-to-hand cooking utensils, and... oh, bugger. I've totally forgotten about mounting the OTR microwave. I'm terrified it's going to end up giving me a paltry six inches of clearance on the cooktop.

I can't think on that. I won't. I will focus on nice things, which I place under a cut so that those of you who want to wring your hands over my plight may continue un-enhappied.

Handsome Tom was never much of a box cat... until this box. Just to give you a sense of scale, that's the box my dishwasher came in.

Okay, not really. But he is a ridiculously large boy.

I can't say what will happen when I put these bad boys into the ground outside, but right now? Seed!squee! That's a lettuce shoot you're seeing right there.

No sign of tomatoes or jalapeños yet, but this? This is encouraging.

This has been on my camera forever. I can't bring myself to delete it. It's very badly lit and rather poorly shot, but it's my Zee, whole and healthy and enjoying the sun and the sweet, warm air. Note the crazy eyes.

I miss that girl something fierce.

I hear: Guess what Malashenkov? I took the collar off...

*hugs*

But think how awesome it will be when all the washing is done, and you can stack all the clean dishes in your spanking-new cabinets? Oh, it's gonna be sweet.

(I worry about your countertop folks. Maybe you should gift them a nice copy of the phone book?)

That's a very sweet picture of your wee Zee.

If I had been drinking something when I read the beginning of this entry, my keyboard would no longer be functioning. :)

Tom looks awfully cute in that box!
