Let me preface this by saying I am not adopting another cat. I've got too much on my plate with HT and the old ladies constantly at odds.

There's a teeny black cat hanging around the gym's parking lot. It's a busy lot; people drive all willy nilly. I worry. Anyway, wee black kitty will meow piteously, but if you try to approach she runs away. I've seen her sniffing around the dumpster, trying to find some food. Of course I've started carrying kitty treats in my car that I might tempt her close enough to get my hands on her. The Humane Society (a no-kill, by the way) is right next door. If I manage to pop the little cat into a carrier, I can take her right over to the shelter.

To that end, I spent twenty five minutes this evening sitting on cold pavement as little kitty crept closer and closer. She finally came near enough to eat some treats, but any time I so much as moved an elbow she jumped back a few feet. By the time I grew too cold to stay outside any longer, she'd actually sniffed my knee and my (unmoving) fingers. Still no contact, but if I can build a rapport with her, it'll come.

I just hope she doesn't get hit by a car before then.

she looks so like Zinda it hurts my heart

Aside from the issues with HT and the ladies, you must tell me what it's like to have 4 cats. I'm seriously thinking of keeping 2 from the kittens. Because I'm fallen in love with said two.

I've got 5 cats, and it's marvelous! We have a kitty for every room of our apartment! :)

All kidding aside, it really is nice -- I feel comfortable leaving for extended periods, because they have each other to play with. And they all have their personal "best buddies" in the group. Plus, there is just nothing like waking up first thing in the morning to 5 pairs of cat eyes staring at you, wondering where breakfast is.

So long as the mix of personalities works, four isn't so different from two. It's twice as much food, twice as many vet bills, but it's not an unwieldy number of kitties.

Before HT, when it was just Jilly, Isabeau, Zee and Esme, it was brilliant. Everyone got along gorgeously. And there was much kitty joy to be had. :)

Your babies are adorable. I wish you all the best with them!
