Handsome Tom, the bold and burly tomcat who kept himself alive in the outdoors for who knows how long, is sleeping on a cushion near a heating vent.

Esme, my one-eyed kitty who was raised indoors - in shelters, no less- is prancing around with a dead shrew in her mouth.

What gives?
I feel: amusedamused

Brain transference machine in the basement. That's what you get for holding onto old coffee canisters - it's only big enough to work on cats.

LOL!!! This was my first laugh of the day... and a hearty one at that! Thanks!

Maybe Tom gave it to her as a gift...

That was my first thought, too! He'd been with me all morning, though, from my last few hours of sleeping right up until I found Esme parading her victory. I think she managed to do it on her own. She's been extra snuggly and purry with me today, too, so I think she's feeling rather proud.

I love this kitty so blessed much.

Now I'd like to think that Handsome Tom pick up his sleepy head and just looked at Esme and said, "Big deal, I stalked bears in those woods. So there."

I wouldn't be at all surprised. :)

Hey, how are your kitties doing? Is everything all right?

How's Project Inside Cat going? I believe last I heard your other cats were not big fans of it, have they adjusted?

The Original Kitties are still not great fans of Handsome Tom. He's completely taken over our bed to the point where none of the other kitties sleep with us anymore. He still chases them, wanting to play, as they scream and run in terror of the ENORMOUS boy gallumphing straight at them.

But, since Zee's passing (which, in the two days prior to (I don't know if you read (or if I even mentioned, come to that)) Tom was amazing) we've been feeding right next to the girls. They don't pay him much mind... until they're done inhaling their own food, at which point they push him away from his dish. And get this: he lets them.

I've chastised them, told them they can't have it both ways, but in true kitty fashion they pretend to be fascinated and then completely ignore my words of wisdom.

In short, though, it is improving. Slowly, slowly, slowly.
