I've teased y'all with hints of a Project on the horizon. Here it is: we're re-doing my entire (very very very tiny galley) kitchen.

I intend to use this as an excuse to learn how to properly use my camera (and Photoshop!) that I might document the before, the after, and the in-between.

We've not yet put any money down, but it looks as if we're going with fairly simple but well made cabinetry. Countertops are not yet decided. We will be adding two new appliances, a new sink, a goodly amount of lighting.

I figured if I ever had the chance to remodel my kitchen, I'd be bouncing about in glee. In truth, we're working with a wee space and a budget, and even then the choices are frelling overwhelming. The only thing that's keeping me from completely freaking out is that this is a major investment in our tiny-but-adorable and ever-so-quirky cottage.

It's likely I'll be posting pictures and specs, questions and pleas for help. I'll try to tag it all so you can skim past it if you so desire.

I haven't even begun to think about hardware. and lighting. and the backsplash. oh, sweet merciful heavens, the backsplash!

hee! To be fair, though, you might not be so yay-ful once you see how much work our house needs.

On a side note, I'm already planning far beyond what we could ever do in this space.Oh, and far beyond our budget. I desperately want recycled glass countertops (75% post consumer recycled material, and it's gorgeous!) but I don't know that there's anyone closer than Texas who can do a measurement and install. *sigh*

Oooo! I'm so glad to discover you're a green-oriented person as well!

I would so love to buy a house and redo the whole thing into environment friendly stuff -- in particular, I think a built-in compost chute would be quite excellent. :)

But yeah... the budget. It always gets in the way of fun things.
