I love Krypto.

There. I said it. I completely adore Krypto, Superman's dog. Now, I come to comics somewhat late, so if there are lame, cheesy-ass versions* of the Superdog in previous continuity, I'm not familiar with them. Feel free to point them out; I'll accept that he has a checquered past. As he's been written in the last several years, though? Completely kick ass. And adorable. I'm so taken with this puppy that I used him as the inspiration for a writing challenge, back in the days when we were doing the Topscotch stories.

Wonder pets are a tricky business. Streaky's all right. Comet? Pretty, but I've yet to see a lot of personality. I don't even want to talk about Beppo, but then I've never been all that fond of monkeys.

But Krypto in the current DCU is completely awesome, and a Krypto-centric story penned by James Robinson is enough to make my animal-loving, Robinson-worshipping, geeky heart beat triple time. Also, it made me cry.

* Speaking of, I refuse to acknowledge the animated series. blech.
I feel: geekygeeky

haven't read it yet- but I loved the bit with Kal chatting with GL in space while playing frisbee with Krypto.

Ilove that bit, too. And I fully love the cover of the lastest issue.

My first laptop was named Spot, after Diane Duane; continuing with the theme, my USB key is Krypto. :0)
