things and... erm... other things
I’m too weary to try to be clever or interesting. What is one to do in such a situation?

I know! Bullet points paragraphs!

Or, not so much 'bullet points paragraphs' as 'squiggly thing denoting a new subject' since I'm so astoundingly html-challenged.

~ the trials (and wee triumphs) of homeownership: I got home from work on Friday (oh, forgot to mention: I'm working Fridays now; see next bullet point) round about two o’ clock in the afternoon to find that our water heater had sprung a decided leak in its nether regions. As chance would have it, Don was already headed home (he’d left work early against the impending snow (which, by the way, was something of a bust)). He called our plumbers (yep! we have plumbers. they’ve served us very well thus far. if ever you move to our neck o’ the woods, I’ll be delighted to give you their number) who were at our house within an hour an a half, new water heater in hand (truck?). The old one was whisked away and the new one installed by half five. We had piping hot water a mere three hours later (would have been sooner if it hadn’t been set to ‘warm’).

on a side note, the old heater was tall and skinny, the perfect height for the kitties to scoot through the basement stairs and onto the heater and then on to the lengths of wood and wainscotting stored beneath the low basement ceiling. Isabeau, when she heard the first plumber arrive, dashed down to this very hiding spot. Thing is, when the new, much shorter and squat heater was in place, she had no way to get back off of the stored wood planks and onto the heater. She managed, clearly, since we didn’t have to rescue her, but she hasn’t been back up in her hidey-hole since.

~ work: *points up* see? Told ya! I'm now working Fridays, albeit a half shift.

NEEDED: a new job. Closer to home. Posthaste. I’m going to check with the local library (unlikely they’ll need help, but still...) and the stable where they do hippotherapy (they may need help, but they work primarily on a volunteer basis. All the relatively decent-paying positions require certification. Still, I’d be happy to teach basic lessons and shovel stalls and clean tack, at this point). And that’s all I’m saying about that. Well, almost. I’ll also say this: I need to fecking get published, and the fact that I’m not is no one’s fault but my own.

~ kitties! Esme, aka Princess Puffytail*, is supremely adorable. Her sproingy-kittnness has been infecting the other kitties. My two twelve-year olds are racing around like mad creatures, and of course Zinda continues to benefit from having a kitten in the house. It’s lovely.

*when Esme plays and gets all revved up, her tail puffs up exponentially. Her head and body remain sleek and serene; it’s only her tail that betrays her glee. This is astonishingly cute. I want to bite her nose. Seriously, flist, you all need to come and see this kitty to get some small taste or her winsomeness.

~ Crimson Pirates: We’re on serious countdown to recording date. I missed the last rehearsal (kickboxing instructor training, grawr!!!). Things are being tightened up and changed and tweaked. Everything is sounding great. And then there’s my song. Let me make this very clear: ‘Distant Drums’ is far more amazing than I’d ever though it could be. I’m floored. But... we changed a couple of things, and because of that, I fully lost my harmony. FULLY. I am a tool. On the bright side, I’m awfully close to nailing the pennywhistle harmony. There’s but one note (stoopid F natural!) that I’m waffling on, but otherwise? So pretty. I can not wait for you guys to hear this, and I really really REALLY hope you like it.

~kickboxing: Yeah, I know I’ve told y’all I’m going to be better about taking classes in addition to teaching. I know I said I’d go - at the very least - twice a week, in addition to any classes I’m teaching. This week... I made it! I went to class twice, and taught four classes. By the bye, my Thursday class sucked (sorry to anyone who was there!) and my weekend classes were okay. Out of nowhere, though, my knees are unhappy. This is worrisome. I’m taking a joint supplement, but if anyone has any other wisdom to share, please PLEASE do so!

...and that’s it for now. Go have fun, you crazy kids!

'my knees are unhappy'

Arnica gel. It's a topical gel that you apply on areas of soft tissue damage. I never would've survived Kevin Kulkhe's Ashtanga Yoga class without it.

I've used arnica on bruises and muscle ouchiness; had no idea it might be good for joints! *limps off, pathetically, to medicine chest*

eta: oh, dude - I so blame you! I was in such a hurry to get the arnica on my poor, Baba-Yaga-ouchy knees that I just missed the hard plastic tube, which then plummeted toward the floor and smacked into the tiles. Hit with a *spwackk!*, orange tinted gel flying everywhere. Everywhere, I might add, except for my knees.

It made it there eventually. There was kitten intervention. It wasn't pretty . Still, if it does some good, all is well. *crosses fingers*!

there's also this stuff called Umbra, which has a nice grape-fruity smell- I think Arnica is in the ingredients- works best with heat applied.
- we used to se this stuff called Dit da Jow in hung gar- smells funky ( dakota loved it but Mare almost kicked me outta bed from the smell!)
Would love to take one of your KB classes, lol. Have a wavemaster at home but it's not the same, heh.

And speaking of surviving classes, when are you coming to one of my kickboxing sessions?

I seriously think a small group of you should come to me for training during the summer. How much fun would that be?

Also? I just plain miss you. Heaps.

I'm actually still enroute. It's been a while since I left Wawayanda, but I'm on 17, so I should make it to Warwick soon. The sign I just passed says "Entering Celoron". I'm close, right?

I actually made that sound aloud. Scared the kitten. *sigh* I'm such a pretty girl.

It hardly counts as bullet points if they're full paragraphs.

Hmm. This is true. I should fix that...

Is anyone besides me having visions of one of those tutu-wearing hippos from Fantasia lying on a couch telling Freud about its mother?

Oh, no. You're so not alone in that.

And I didn't stop there today, 'cause I got all weirded out and nervous. ugh.

Ooo, Kelly's happy with herself! :)
Sorry, couldn't resist. And, m'dear, who couldn't like CP music?
