This post comes in three parts
Part one: Kickboxing!

Hear this, lame-ass self-doubting inner voice of doom and disparagement! I went to class twice this week. That's right: twice. That may not be terribly impressive, but it's twice more than I went last week, or the week before, and so on and so on back through the past few months. And I taught thrice, so there was a bit more of a workout as well.

There was also an attempt - not always successful - to eat healthier. Smaller portions were consumed (except for last night, but hey: Harpoon Bay doesn't reopen every day! and the wine was very good, and the dessert was utter happy). My pants may be a bit snug, but I haven't yet had to bump up a size. All good things.

Part two: food!

I've got chicken, lentil and veggie stew in the oven. Chicken and white bean chili is in the crockpot. Tomorrow I'll cook up some cream of tomato soup (just didn't get to it today) and maybe - MAYBE! - attempt bread. Some of you on my flist will laugh at my fear of baking bread, but all earlier attempts have ended in tears. There's a recipe for spinach dahl I've been wanting to try forever. I expect that'll be Wednesday's dinner. Must stop at TJs for naan. I'm too lame to even think of making that myself.

Part three: kitties!

Zinda, on occasion, likes to curl up with me while I'm at the computer. She comes trotting over, all kittenish mewing and breathy purrs, and settles herself onto my lap. After a half an hour or so, she remembers that her default setting is 'naughty biting cat who loves Don best,' and balance is restored to the world.

Now we have Esme to consider. Esme loves me. She loves Zinda. The two of us together are, clearly, too great to resist. Now, I'm not a small girl by any means, but Zee's at least ten pounds and Esme has to be around six. I only have so much lap, kitties!

Esme doesn't care. She'll be happy any old way. She clambered up and draped herself over Zee.

"... the hell?" Zinda asks.

"You do realize you'll pay for this later, right?"

"Hmpf," Zee says. "Maybe it's not so bad."

"Camera! Mom! HIIII!" says Esme."

"zzzzzzz," says Zinda.

"zzzzzzz!!!" says Esme.

If the spinach dal works out, post the recipe pretty please?

To trade, I will direct you to breadworld.com, which is full of many recipes. Everything I've tried from the site has worked out wonderfully, and that's with me tinkering here and there, so the recipes do have a bit of give built into them.

Absolutely! I'm not a very adventurous eater, I confess, and I think this may be a somewhat bastardized version of dahl shaag. Even so, if it's yummy, I'll be happy to share.

as for the site, *adds to bookmarks* Thank you!!!

Oh. Em. Gee.

Your kitties are the cutest cuteness that ever was cute. They are the very cuteness of DOOM!

And the food sounds absurdly good. I am going to come and live underneath your kitchen table and beg scraps with the kittehs.
Kel: Kitten!Tenladyjoust on February 25th, 2008 04:50 am (UTC)
My kitties are breathtakingly adorable. I must, within the next few weeks, start to take better pictures of their heart-stopping cuteness.

As for my food... I need to get better at this. I really, really do. In the meanwhile, though, you can come to my table ANY TIME. Wait... let me add the bold: ANY TIME. I won't even make you wait for the scraps.

My, but I miss you. I still have your Christmas presents, by the bye. Ratey's too. I suck. *facedesk* *repeatedly*

I warn you. I'm plotting. This could happen sooner than you expect. Muahaha!

You do not suck.
And if you *facedesk* too often you might hurt something...

I'm with eaquaelegit on the recipe thing. In fact, I keep meaning to pick your brain ... because you keep talking about really yummy things that sound really good for you too (and I'm having trouble expanding my food repetoire (sp?) to more healthy things that don't bore me).

Got any recipe/meal ideas/tips? please? *begs*

I'll gladly share! Any preferences? No beef? All veggie? No portabello mushrooms (okay, that's my own preference rearing its ugly head) or feta cheese (again, my bad)> You get the idea. :)
Ratesjul: pearyratesjul on February 25th, 2008 07:11 pm (UTC)
I like feta, I'm not sure I've tried portabello mushrooms. I like the 'easy'. I eat more chicken than beef (largely due to growing up eating more beef than chicken), and I'm starting to eat some lamb and pork, though those are minimal. Basically I'll eat just about anything, though my experience with tofu hasn't come out well.

What I really need are meals that are heavy on the vegetables (whether that means with meat or without), because I currently suck at eating as many veges as I'm meant to, most of the time.

I'm all about easy. I can make more complicated dishes, but I'm usually too darned lazy to do so.

I just posted the recipe for the slow cooker chili (very good for the veggie intake!), which can easily be adapted for the stovetop. I'll scrounge through my recipes and/or brain for more for you. I'm on a huge lentil kick of late, so you'll probably get a lot with those. Or barley, or possibly quinoa. Mmm, fiber-y goodness!

I need to get more pictures of the older girls, my calico kitties (aka the Darling Mermaid Darling Kitties). So much more kyoot to be had. But I have to say my two young ones are sort of killing me, so adorable are they. And Esme the one-eyed kitty/Princess Puffytail is probably the most loving, snuggly kitten I have ever met.

OMG So cute. My kitty only ever sits on me when she wants to eat.

Could I get the recipe for the chicken and white bean chili?
Kel: kittykittyladyjoust on February 25th, 2008 03:59 pm (UTC)
you bet! I'll have it for you this afternoon!

hee... as I'm typing this, Zee just jumped on my lap. AGAIN.

okay... I posted it in a separate entry. If you need any adjustments or clarification (I know I'm a bit scattered, so...) do but let me know!
