Kitteh update...
... whether you want it or not!

The elder kittehs are much improved. Jilly fought me tooth and claw graciously swallowed a children's aspirin last night. Within an hour or so, her fever was down. She slept by my side, something she's not done in days, and even managed a normal sounding purr. Isabeau, while still rattling-coughing-rusty meowing, is much perkier. They both ate a bit of their food. I was disproportionately excited.

Zinda is suddenly her 'barely out of kittenhood' self again. I think her malaise may have been a combination of depression, wanting to make Don and I PAY!! for bringing a kitten into the house and the onset of the virus, which her young and healthy self then fought off. In any case, she's playing again. Vigorously. Woohoo! I didn't ruin her life! psst! don't tell anyone, but she was playing with the one-eyed kitten.

Then there's Esme, the kitten of supreme adorableness. I have no words to encompass the cute. She's love and warmth and sweetness. Her sole bad behavior - begging when Don and I have food - is manageable. Even were it not, her other manners so wipe that off the map. When she just wakes up, or when she comes up to see what you're doing, she tips her head to the side. Whiskers curved forward, she looks like a tortoiseshell waif. You want to give her that hot sugared roll you bought with your last coin despite the fact that you yourself might be cold and hungry and in need of some small warmth and sustenance. And you just know she'll give you a beautiful yellow rose - or a snuggle and a fervent purr - in return, even though you never asked her to do so.

So. In summation: kitties are on the mend. I am not the worst kitty mom ever. Can't wait until their digestive systems normalize. Cleaning the litter boxes just now = a job for Mike Rowe.

Send me vibes to win a grant? Grant-winning means increased likelihood of kitty presence in my life.

You and my sister are conspiring. Her cat despises other cats, so she couldn't take in another body, and it got sent to the shelter, which she equated to a death sentence. I feel so guilty.

You get grant-winning vibes from me even without kitty-consequences! Happy kitty presence should grant be won = bonus. :)

I am so glad the kitties are feeling better! Being home for the holidays and spending time with my kitties got me all flustered for them and for you.

And, PS, I don't know if you were purposefully referencing A Little Princess with this:

You want to give her that hot sugared roll you bought with your last coin despite the fact that you yourself might be cold and hungry and in need of some small warmth and sustenance. And you just know she'll give you a beautiful yellow rose...

But I am now watching the movie, which I have not seen in yeeeaaaars, but still know ever word to. :)

I was completely referencing that movie. I love it so. It makes me happy you noticed!

Glad to hear the kitties are on the mend. Esme sounds so cute.

Love the reference to Little Princess. Though my favorite version will always be from BBC TV. In fact, now that I think of it, one of the sisters that ran the school also played Professor Sprout in the HP movies. Do you remember that?

Very glad to hear that the kitties are on the mend!
I think you are a quite splendid kitty mom!
