did I just hear a pack of coyotes howling? And if it wasn't coyotes, what was it? Not wolves, not where I live.

Not 'wolves' in the traditional sense of the word, anyway.

I started to push the curtains aside to look out into the night and then thought better of it. My mind - after dark especially - twists any and everything that may be perfectly normal into MegaCreepy. This is why I can't see scary movies at all. Ever. And why I'm still so very cranky with Steven Moffatt for the Doctor Who episode 'Blink.'

they're howling again. meep.

also: how can people let their pets roam? There are coyotes around, apparently, not to mention other beasties and cars driven by people who don't give a good god-damn about anything other than getting somewhere very very quickly.

oh, yeah - and were-critters.
I feel: shockedmeep!

Yes you did.

When we had the farm on Bellvale Lakes Road we heard coyotes howling every night and saw them frequently during the day.

You let your critters roam and hope, really. I lost one cat to a car :( And one to an attack by...Labradors. Not only Labradors but Labradors owned by a fellow horse farm owner down the road with a bunch of kids, horses, small dogs and...cats. Why they chose to kill Moonface we'll never know. Really friendly dogs but they mauled him to death? So really you just never know what is going to happen.

As far as I know we've never lost a pet to coyotes nor has anyone else I've known growing up around Warwick.

PS You have black bears in your backyard as well. Thought you ought to know. They're totally harmless for the most part. You leave them alone and they extend the same courtesy back to you.
