There is a storm rolling in. Thunder is grumbling and grousing in the distance, and the air is heavy and still. The quality of the light is astonishing. It is half-six, and just past sunset; with the haze and the clouds and the fading sun, the light is a rosy-orange-grey. Freaky, to be sure, but gorgeous.

at least it the sky doesn't have a green cast. *shudder* I will never, but NEVER stop being terrified of tornadoes. you can take the girl out of Wisconsin...

This is written beautifully. Not sure why it struck me so much. I've read it four or five times now. If it was my journal? You'd get, "big ass storm coming in. Lotsa lightening."

There's no way you could know this, of course, but I've decided to fling myself at my Fear of Writing. There will likely be an LJ entry detailing this Fear, but suffice it to say that although I've pretty much always wanted to be a writer, somewhere along the way I convinced myself I wasn't, nor would ever be, good enough. I didn't have an ounce of ability.

*hugs muchly*

So... yes. Your words mean more than I can say.

'least I'm good for something. Been doubting that a lot lately.

*glompity* Do you have any idea how important you have been to me in these past weeks? No, of course not... I haven't told you. You have been strength and kindness and humour and grace and generosity and wit and love.

I am so very, very sorry that you are dealing with a ridiculous burden that so lovely a spirit does not deserve, and I apologize that I haven't been there for your own struggles.

Please know that if there is anything I can do, but let me know (by the by? gathering books for your sis). You need but ask, or hint, and I will do all within my power to make your life a bit easier. You completely deserve it, dearling.

See, this kind of entry is the kind of entry I think of writing, powerful and poetic.

Then somehow it gets tangled up with capslock and my brain on crack and you get lots and lots of incoherent spam instead.

So, yeah. I, for one, think you're good at this writing business.

*blushes*

By the way, m'dear, I owe you a thousand or so apologies that I've not yet read your Dunstan/Una fic. But I will, within the next few days, I promise; I will stop being so blasted scattered. And for you to tell me you like my writing when I stand so in awe of yours? that's... well, words fail me.

crap. that can't be good.

Hahahahaha--I mean. (Seriously: thank you, though I'm not quite sure I deserve all that praise.)

Please take your time, even if I just wrote another Stardust fic today. The fic isn't going anywhere.

don't tell me the hours I have spent telling you that your are a fantastic writer who has an amazing way with words, who writes from her heart, and can create beautiful pictures in the minds of others...
did NOTHING?!

Silly girl, I have loved everything you have written, from Mad Gen to the Robin Hood love letters.

I still claim the first signed copy of your first published work. And tell Don my 21st birthday is in a few months and I expect my beer delivered to Elmira by hand :)
Kel: Gwen in redladyjoust on October 9th, 2007 01:05 am (UTC)
But hon... you're my sister, though not by blood. Family doesn't count when it comes to praise: they have to tell you you're fine, you're capable, you're good enough to not utterly shame yourself. :P

I do appreciate it, though. And I hope I can live up to your expectations.

Depending on our schedules (*sigh* how can we still be so damned busy when we're not doing Faire?) we'll have to see if we can be nearby on or near your 21st!
Rennierengirlie87 on October 9th, 2007 01:11 am (UTC)
Yes, but my opinion is the ONLY one that counts! Duh :) (ok, maybe Don's does too, but your married so that tips the scales a bit)

And I mean every word, and not just in the supportive HeartSister way, Kel. You're one of my favorite writers, right after Tammy and Robin McKinley.

suckily, My 21st falls on a MONDAY of all days, though I may accidentally miss that day of classes. What are you guys up to the weekend before (21-23) or the weekend after? Come to think of it, lots of faire folk owe me drinks..I should start a list.

Rain, sweet delicious rain
Some of us love the rain, especially those of us with grass-eating cows. Rain is good. Thunder and lightning are good, too, although rain, preferably from midnight to 4 AM, is what we want and need.
