I haven't been updating about dad 'cause there isn't all that much to tell.

In the past week, he:

had the ventilator removed
was put on a BiPAP (think mega-oxygen mask) as his Ox Sat continues to sort of suck
continues to be confused, sometimes very
had a swallowing evaluation scheduled (don't know if they every got to do it, because...)
seems to have aspirated
seems to have developed pneumonia again
was put back on a ventilator

That last bit brings you up to today. My mom is, understandably, upset. My sister has been a wonder. My brother probably feels as helpless as I do. I need to get back up there, but I don't think I can until next week.

*sigh* This is shaping up to be a hell of a slog.

I want to thank you all so very, very much for your prayers and blessings and love and support. Don't feel you need to comment every time I post an update; if you want to, that's lovely and very, very welcome, but I will not be slighted in the least if you just read this, nod, and continue on. Don't worry. I know you're there, and I know you are all continuing to send good thoughts. And it means the world to me, and to my Mom and the rest of my family.

If it helps any, we go through this a lot at work. It all sucks the big time, but it DOES end. They'll probably still want to do the swallowing eval because they'll want to know how and why he was aspirating.

When my mom was in the ICU this summer, she was writing notes to bug my dad about the bills and laughing at her brother, but she doesn't remember a single thing. It happens with the drugs, I guess.

Anyway, hang in there. Will still be praying and sending good thoughts.
