oops! one more snippet:

Well before the release of the latest HP book, it was planned that our store was going to have a Harry Potter Birthday Party on July 31st. That's all well and good while there is a Harry Potter, but at that point none of us knew how the book would end. After finishing the book on the evening of Saturday the 21st, I sighed in contentment. Then, after a moment, I stood and shouted, "YES! HE LIVES!" while pumping my fist in the air. (Okay, not really, but picture that internalized and you get the gist. The event could go on, unsullied.)

Stopped into the store today to check the schedule. Mustn't grumble about the past*, so let us just say that even though I'll have to miss my UV appointment and tend to my in-laws' bunny at 9 p.m., I will not only be present for the HP event, but I will get paid for my time... and it's going to be a long one. But the cool thing is that I get to be in charge of Divination Class. That's right: I'm Trelawney. Woot!

Here's the thing, though. I sort of forgot about getting things together and so came home today and had to scour my closet to see if I could possibly find anything that might possibly work...

and within ten minutes, I had a fairly awesome Trelawney costume, complete with accessories, as well as an impressive pile of items to decorate the table. I'm not sure what that says about my personal style. Chances are it's nothing good.

*Though if I were to grumble, I'd grumble about coming in on my own time for the Eclipse Prom because I was told that my assistance hadn't been taken into payroll. I love 'Twilight' ('New Moon' I think I can be friends with), I love this age range and I absolutely adore talking books with these kids. Also, I was 400% with the booksellers behind this, so... yeah. I sucked it up. And ended up staying late like whoa. Funny addendum: now the managers are saying, "Wow. I didn't know that! Who told you not to punch in?"

Um... You?

I feel: dorkydorky

I still want to hear your husband's HP epilogue defense! So make with the posting, please.

Wooohooo!!!

And does it mean anything bad that, when I read that, I thought "Oh, she'll find a Trelawney get-up no problem"?

Please understand where I'm coming from when I say "Don't ever work off the clock for these people again." It's not fair to give your time without being paid.

Oh and I wanted to say that you were an awesome Trelawney.

Aww.... thanks!

And you're right about not giving them my time for free. I really should know better... but I'd already promised to help out with that event and backing out would have screwed over the kids, so...

yeah. I need to be less of a doormat.
