I did not frighten any third graders.

In truth, it was a lot of fun. My niece and I took turns reading 'Strega Nona's Magic Lessons,' and the class was terrific. I'm so accustomed to reading at story time at the bookstore, I've forgotten that an entire group of kids can be well behaved and attentive. I almost found myself looking around for the toddlers running about throwing books or crying for the train set and for the mothers comparing lattes in between chatting on their cell phones.*

The morning was spent getting my hair coloured and absolutely chopped** by the lovely women at Creative Hair Design. They always dry my hair straight (makes it easier to cut). I almost never do, so it's quite the novelty. What with the colour, I've got sort of a Torchwood-Gwen look going on. hee. Also, my eyebrows have been waxed into rather comely arches. I am pleased.

Now off to kickboxing. I ate a Cadbury Caramel Egg today, so weary or not, I have to drag my ample booty to class.

*please note that most of the parents/attendants and kids who come to story time are fully wonderful. It's the annoying ones, however, that get the most notice.

**the stylist is quite wonderful, and I'm always happy with the cut as well as the way it grows out. It's just that there was an alarming amount of hair on the floor when she was done, and if my hair is this short straight, I have no idea how it's going to look when curly. Ah, well. If it's too short for my liking, it will be but a matter of weeks before it grows to a more comfortable length.

I'm not Catholic, but I think next year for Lent I should give up eating any meal that does not include a Cadbury Caramel Egg. Y'know, in a show of solidarity. :P

Yeah! Wonder what kind of omelettes you can make with those...And quiche! The mind boggles at the possibilities.

I'm glad to hear that you had a good and successful time at the reading. (But I knew it would work out fine)

Hah! I got my hair chopped, yesterday. Finally it's the cut I've been asking for. Super short, for those who know me, but I love it! I had to get it thinned considerably and I also had my brows waxed.

We are psychic style twins!

Of course, also like yourself, I will be challenged by the "what do you mean 'blow it dry?'" concept. Right now I am sleek and styled. How it will translate to finger-combed and left to itself, is anyone's guess.

I used to love Strega Nona as a kid. I still enjoy it. Hee.

I'd not read them before. I fail as bookseller. But it was a charming story, and the entire class was really into it.
