About. Frakking. Time.
They started digging for the new septic system today. Originally, work was to have begun Tuesday, but things and engineers being what they are, it was a no go. So this morning someone came and fired up the Little Backhoe That Could (which, if it were mine, I would paint like a dinosaur. At present it is mine and Nick's joust colours, so that works, too). It was necessary to take out a bank of bushes - closer to trees, really - to make way for the new tank. While I understand it had to happen, I'm no little bit distressed on behalf of the birds; those bushes were a veritable condiminum complex. There will be avian tears in SnowWhiteLand tonight.

Come spring, I'm putting up several birdhouses.

As regards the septic system, the work will take longer than we'd thought. The tank (which is, at present, dangling over the newly excavated pit like some sort of rude surprise for Damocles) goes in today, but the leach field and the drains around the house* will be completed over the next two or three weeks. I can live with that.

*the drains are in no way related to the septic; they're to fix our basement water issues. Joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy gig-starting-in-five-minutes! I'm sorry we couldn't make it this time around, but the public transportation to and from Warwick needs to run some buses for people with a nightlife!

I'm a bit concerned about the leachfield.

and the icon is totally gratuitous; just a bit of pre-holiday CE yumminess for you!

Second attempt to reply, here.

One, thanks for the CE. I miss him, too. In fact, I've been thinking that if I were filming "Going Postal", he'd be my Moist Van Lipwig (well, he is that, already but...never mind).

Ahem. Meanwhile, the leach field? It sounds as if you're referring to a field of leaches (I've never had a septic system). I mean, you're not really going to have, you know, a bunch of leaches in your yard, are you?

I tell you, if they pull up with a truck full of giant leeches, I'm out of here. So.Damned.Fast.

Well. That might explain why I fell so completely in literary love with a character named 'Moist.' That is PERFECT casting.

And apropos of nothing, we need to schedule a visit in the new year. I'll see if Don can spare me for a few days, mayhap. Yes?

Yes, please.
