~In two words, explain what ended your last relationship?
Don Kilcoyne.

Seriously, I was seeing this guy. He went to England for the summer. I did my first season of Ren Faire. And there you have it.

~Your prom night?
Home with my kitties and books.

~Do you have any famous ancestors?
Kind of. Sir Saville Leverich, who was knighted by Queen Elizabeth, first of that name. He's on my dad's side of the family.

~Have you ever taken out a loan to pay for school?
No, but then I didn't go to expensive schools. And I worked A LOT.

~Last thing received in the mail?
I can tell you what it wasn't:
*permit from the town for septic tank replacement
*comic books
*letters from editors/agents/publishers clamouring for my work

What it was: bills, my weekly Newport News catalogue (honestly, I've ordered ONE THING from them! and I'm not ordering more until I'm skinny, dammit, so back OFF!) and lots of Optimum direct mail.

~How many different beverages have you drank today?
Different types? Four.

~Do you ever leave messages on people's answering machines?
Never. I leave silence. It's who I am.

What a silly question.

~Who did you lose your CONCERT virginity to?
First of all, I am old. There. I said it. Secondly, I'm not sure if seeing someone perform at the Wisconsin State Faire counts towards losing one's concert virginity. If it does, then Rick Springfield. Shut up. He was cute and 'Jesse's Girl' was a really freaking catchy song (and 'Working Class Dog' was one of my sister's favourite albums). If not, then J. Geils band.

~What's the most painful dental procedure you've had?
Take your pick. I've had so many extractions and a good four or five oral surgeries... No. Wait. The dentist who did my extractions when we were living in Wisconsin was brutal. He pulled teeth out just using novocaine. That's a world of ouch.

~What is out your back door?
Trees. The autumn night. Possibly Monte, come to scavenge fallen birdseed.

~Any plans for Friday night?
That's usually date night with my dearest.

~Do you like what the ocean does to your hair?
Gracious, yes! It makes my normally frizzy, lame and undecided hair rather wild and curly and sexy.

~Have you ever been to a planetarium?
I'm seven kinds of geek. Of course I have.

~Some things you are excited about?
Pamela Dean's new book, whenever it may come out. Brisco County on DVD. Seeing my brother and his wife and my incredibly wonderful nephews at Thanksgiving. Zinda re-learning how to use the litterbox. The possiblity of losing weight, of finding a place to ride, of remodeling/expanding our house in the not terribly distant future. Whistle pigs and deer and raccoons and bear and other creatures that come a-calling. 52. I could go on and on and on...

~What is your favorite flavor of JELLO?
I have texture issues with JELLO. I've eaten it (while on the South Beach Diet), but it wasn't pretty.

~Describe your keychain:
Key and keyfob for Moya. House key. Several plastic tags: Petsmart, PetGoods, Shoprite, Stop n' Shop, library card. Gaelic Storm bottle opener.

~Where do you keep your change?
In a pocket in my wallet (rather unsuccesfully; it is time for a new wallet, all told), in a tray in my car and in an old Faire mug on my dresser.

~When was the last time you spoke in front of a large group of people?
School Days, end of this past May.

*sigh*

~What kind of winter coat do you have?
I have a leather barn coat that isn't all that warm, but it looks good. Also have a flannel lined cordouroy shirt.

~What was the weather like on your graduation day?
Sunny and hot. Both for HS and college.

~Do you sleep with the door to your room open or closed?
Open, otherwise the kitties are most disconcerted.

~Something purple within 10 feet of you?
My joust shield.

~Sexiest item you own?
Don Kilcoyne

~Weirdest item you've put in the microwave?
I so want to do Peep Jousting. I blame sheroes.

~How much Japanese do you know?
Not a whit.

~Do you look good in yellow?
NO.

~Do you sing?
-ish.

~Ever danced naked in front of a crowd?
with a crowd...

~Do you spit or smoke?
I'm resisting the urge to gutter this...

~Least favorite color?
beige

~Ever played an instrument?
Bodhran (passably) and pennywhistle (poorly)

~Do you believe in Big Foot?
Yep.

~Ever been to a palm reader?
No. I've had two tarot readings done, though, and I really rather want another.

~What are you thinking about right now?
How I want to get a tarot reading done.

~Ever had a black eye?
Yep. And had to be 'pretty Maid Marian' with it, to boot.

~Current disappointment?
My weight. and my lack of creativity/talent/writing... but I'm working on kicking myself in the ass regarding both these issues, so hopefully the next time I answer this question the response will be something simple like, "I ran out of chives."

~Favorite drinks?
TJ's Jasmine Green Tea and any really good beer (IPAs notwithstanding)

~Does anything hurt on your body right now?
Abs and obliques. I have three weeks until my 20th HS reunion. I have three weeks to lose thirty pounds, ten years and one negative attitude.

~Where did you last ride a taxi?
Manhattan.

~Last alcoholic drink you had?
Kelley's Revenge Chardonnnay

~What were you doing last night?
Cooking dinner. Reading. Anything else may be left to your imagination.

~Did you do the deed on prom night?
Not even in my lonely, awkward geeky outcast girl dreams.

~Favorite food ever?
Top of my head, I'll say my chicken and dumplings. It's comfort food, it's savoury, and it makes the entire house smell so absolutely yummy.

Ah-ha. So I was not the only lonely geeky girl who spent her prom night at home, reading books...except I had a dog, not a cat at the time...
