HELP, please!
Normally, I receive email notifications when someone posts a comment to one of my entries.

Now? Not so much. I've checked my userinfo and the email address is correct. Any ideas? This is crazy frustrating. *harrumph*

I haven't been getting them on and off myself. Might just be LJ acting up.

Well well, Sir Christian, I didn't realize you were here! :)

At any rate, I haven't gotten mine in MONTHS.

However, in my case, it seems to be a fault with yahoo. If I change my email addy to google, no problems at all. If I change it back to yahoo, I stop getting mail again.

I am not amused.

I just found this, dated 9/5:

Temporary Issues:

Outgoing email from LiveJournal is currently delayed by a few hours; all email will be delivered, but it may take a few hours for this to happen. We're looking into the cause of this problem in order to resolve it as soon as possible.

Which is okay, but I've been having the problem for two days. That's a lot more than 'a few hours.'

*is cranky*
Kel: snarlladyjoust on September 6th, 2006 08:57 pm (UTC)
Actually, it looks like I haven't been getting the emails since the 1st.

*now with more cranky!*

Ought I to contact LJ, d'you think?

It might be a spam filter issue with your ISP.

Try changing your address to a different one (like a gmail account, let me know if you need an invite, I've got lots), and posting an anonymous comment.

If it goes to one and not to the other, it's a spam filter issue; contact the ISP about it so they can adjust their filters.
Kelladyjoust on September 7th, 2006 02:29 am (UTC)
I already sent an email to my ISP; it's just frustrating because I've had them for a LONG time and have never had a problem.

And thank you! for the offer. I do have a gmail account that I could try, if need be. Hopefully, Optimum will either 1. fix it! or 2 rule out that it is their problem.
Ilena Ayalanetsearcher on September 7th, 2006 02:41 am (UTC)
Spam filtering is a predator/prey relationship, so the filters need periodic adjustments for their rules, as spammers keep finding new ways to slip past the existing ones. :(

So it's entirely possible that one of the adjustments started catching LJ comments.

Is it significant that I get spam in my Mail all the time (mostly thanks to the CP site, I might add)? It's labeled 'junk' 99.9% of the time. I simply delete it and move on.

I might be underestimating how much spam I'd normally receive, though.

Oh, and also: still no word from Optimum. I know they said 24-48 hourse, but really. *stamps foot*
Kel: oh dear godladyjoust on September 9th, 2006 05:39 am (UTC)
I changed it to my gmail account. Nothing there, either.

WHAT THE.....????? Is now the time to contat LJ and ask "yeahbuhwah???"

Hey Kel, as long as we're talking about email: Did you get the email I sent you yesterday? No rush to answer it; it's just that I used your email from last year's contact sheet, and I wasn't sure if it was current.
Kel: Nine/Tardisladyjoust on September 8th, 2006 01:25 am (UTC)
I did get it, m'dear. It's only LJ that's screwing up my frelling stoopid email. I'll be answering; don't you worry!

As you are more likely to see this rather than a response on my own journal...

I will be sad if I can't go to my first NYRF with you, but sadder still if I don't go to a RenFest at all this year. :( So if you could get me tickets (and directions would be fantastic as well :D) I would looove that. My roommate said she'd be interested in going too, if I can finangle two tickets out of you.

As for me coming to your house and having a grand old time, I love the idea and very much look forward to it! If you insist on cooking for me (oh, twist my arm...) I'm very easy to please. I like chicken of all kinds. I very much like pasta. I am not, however, a fan of veggies so if they are served do no be offended if I decline. I lurve fruits, though. Other than that, I'm very easy. :)

I am especially looking forward to meeting your cats because I miss mind terribly. :(

OK. FWIW, I checked my Compuserve email (which I do all too infrequently these days). I got both your comments in this thread emailed there, as well as some test anon comments I posted just a little while ago to an entry in my own journal.

So it's probably *not* an LJ issue. It might be, if you are on a different server than I'm on; I'm on filetmignon. You can click the "where am I" link here to check. But if anything, it's worth noting that I'm on the server they were noting issues on, and I *am* getting the emails.
