It’s Zinda’s first weekiversary!

She continues to be a big hit at work. That's just as well, since I'll probably have to take her in with me for one more week.

The little chaos monkey continues to eat well. That might explain why she’s grown so much in just a week, and why her coordination is slowly improving. She’s learning to pounce; okay, just at the moment it’s more like ‘falling with intent,’ but she managed a full-fledged hop yesterday. There was a moment, too, where she started stalking me - crouched down, tail straight behind her, moving slowly forward - but halfway through she seemed to forget what she was doing. Kitten ADD, mayhap. Oh - and she runs now! It isn’t exactly in a straight line, and she bumps into things and falls down as much as I do when I run. She runs, I suppose, like a hyperactive drunk.

The big news, though, is that we began litter box training yesterday. She’d gone on the floor (I might have been vexed, but the very fact that she went without my playing Mama Cat was exhilarating). I scooped up the poo, put it in the litter, and showed Zinda. Later, I came in to find that she’d peed on herself as she lay in her box. I washed her up and again put her in the litter.

This morning, I came in to feed her and found she’d peed in the litter box. WOOHOOOOOO! Mind, I’m sure there will be accidents and I’ll keep an eye on her, but this bodes oh so very well.

One more thing: I was a very, very bad kitty-mommy. Knowing she’d had two litter-mates with which to tumble and play, I tried to stand in for them. Using my hand, I’d wrestle with her, letting her gnaw on my fingers. I felt sorry for orphan kitten; I figured better she have that formative play time, and I’d worry about the biting later. Bad Kelly. Very, Very Bad. Now, I’m training her not to bite at all, ever. I feel like such a tool. But she’s a smart little girl, and is happy with her new toys so all may yet be very well.

Now, in honour of Zinda’s first week, kitty pic-spam!

She looks a bit dissolute here. A surfeit of absinthe and ennui:

Look! Zinda can climb in and out of her box! Clearly, she's a genius.

No matter how many pictures I take, she always ends up with crazy-eyes:

Still crazy-eyed, but pretty darned adorable:

The third picture looks like the caption should be, "Mom! Do you *mind*? I'm NAKED!"

You can really see those white areas pretty clear on the third photo. She's really starting to look bigger.
So cute!
