barleymash just bought me a brand new thistle feeder. It is far nicer than the old one. Thing is, I can't help but wonder if the bear is going to wander by again today, catch sight of it, and think "I am the luckiest bear in the world!" Then, he'll look around to make sure no one is watching, pluck it from the hook, and trundle off.

barleymash also bought new windowboxes. Unless the bear has a yen for gardening, I think those will be safe. But then, this is SnowWhiteLand (tm). Anything can happen.
I feel: amusedamused

Pray tell ... what *is* a thistle feeder?

It's a long, tube-shaped feeder either made of mesh (as my last one was) or with small perches and slits. It holds nyjer seed (commonly called thistle, though it really isn't), which is a great draw for finches.

If you do a Google Image search for 'thistle feeder,' it shows a bunch of different ones.

Ahhh, thank you!

I was having GREAT difficulty trying to figure out why you wanted to feed thistles ... not even thinking that you would be trying to feed thistles TO something! ;)
