Yesterday, when the bear came a' calling, I managed to get some photos. I apologize for the blurriness of the first three; they were taken through the sliding glass door. I did try to take a picture through the kitchen window. Two problems with that: 1. when I opened the window, the bear, clearly curious, made a beeline for it, and 2. the shot through the screen was worse than those through the glass. When he started to leave, I slid the door open a tidge and stuck the camera out for the last two shots.

I'm still wondering what happened to the thistle feeder. It isn't lying broken on the ground; it is utterly gone. It does - sorry, did - have a wire handle, so the bear may have just plucked it off the hook and carried it away like Chinese take-out.

Wow! that is so neat!!

Perhaps your bear thought the thistle feeder was a pic-a-nick basket!!! (could be that he thinks he is smarter than the average bear!)

OhMeGOD.

That's really kind of terrifying. And cute. Both at the same time.

Ahaha, your house has become the all-night Wendy's for the local forest. "welcome to Kelly's, home of the McSuet, can I take your order?"
