I’m far too scattered to make a proper update. Instead, I shall mention things at random. The chronology will, admittedly, be questionable.

I’ve already mentioned that Sunday last we went to see Gaelic Storm at Bodle’s Opera House in Chester. We saw them last year, in the company of the lovely nimue9, at B.B. Kings. The turnout at that venue was not what I would have anticipated. Even so, the band put on a kick-ass show. Bodles is an intimate venue. The show was sold out, and the energy of the performance was amazing. After the last song, Patrick Murphy announced that the band would be hanging out at the bar having a few (more) pints. Alas, we couldn’t stay, but I did get to thank a couple of the band members for a killer show. And I made a bit of an idiot of myself, since I rushed over to Steve Twigger and said, “You probably get this all the time, but has anyone told you how much you look like the actor Alan Tudyk?”

He smiled and politely told the crazy lady that yes, he had heard that before. Then he turned to talk to someone who, by all appearances, was considerably less insane. I toned it back when I saw Patrick. I merely thanked him for a fantastic show. He shook my hand and asked if this was my first time seeing them perform. “Second time,” I replied. When he asked where I’d seen them prior. “B.B. King’s.”

His expression changed. Without a word, he gathered me into a huge hug (for the record? the guy is rock freakin’ solid. I guess playing spoons, accordian and being adorable is the ultimate workout). After a moment, he let me go and called out to Twigger. “She was one of the hundred people at B. B. King’s!”

In other news, I am doing School Days, so I’ll be jousting one last time. I do so hate, however, that I’ve not lost the winter weight and am very much out of fighting trim. Ah, well. I shall do the best that I can. Had a fight rehearsal with Nick last evening. We’re fighting smallsword. -ish. In any event, it is promises to be a really fun fight. It did hit me, though, how much I am going to miss that this summer. Buggrit.

My vegetable garden awaits planting, but I heard it was wisest to wait until after the 20th. Just in case of lingering frosts, I suppose.

Oh, in CP news, I’ve heard part of the rough cut of the fourth CD. It’s rather good. Actually, I think it’s going to be our best to date. Robin made me listen to Jock Stewart, and you know? I don’t suck. Anyone who knows me and my self-confidence issues knows what weight such a statement carries.

I’m off in a few to babysit my niece and nephews; Don will be meeting up with me later. Apparently the kids are beyond excited that we’re coming. They’ve been counting off the days, and my niece can not wait for me to read to her. I’m a little worried. Seems she thinks I’m going to read Junie B. Jones better than anyone, ever. Not too much pressure there.

The goldfinches that have been dominating the feeder these past few weeks have, quite suddenly, vanished. I’m still seeing the house finches, but nary a glimmer of yellow.

I really need to find a new job.

I really need to be aggressive in all areas of my writing (creating, revising, submitting, letting other people, oh, I don’t know, critique my work...).

I really need to trim my bangs. Only if I do it myself, my hairdresser will give me that “I’m not angry, I’m just disappointed” look. And I know she’d do it for me, but that would entail driving up to Middletown, which I keep meaning to do but things get in the way. I guess I’ll just let them grow until I’m looking at the world through a grey/brown fringe.

Just as I’ve chosen ‘whistle pig’ over ‘woodchuck,’ ‘knackered,’ over ‘exhausted’ and ‘toaster crumpet’ over ‘english muffin,’ I have decided I much prefer ‘queue’ over ‘line.’ This will come in handy if I ever see knackered whistle pigs queue for toaster crumpets.

aaand.... that’s all I’ve got.

Funny you should mention that -- this was the only thing I ever posted to the GS forum.... Twigger is not usually social, so he probably didn't think you were nuts. I must keep that in mind about the B.B. King's show, though! Maybe I can have a hug, too. :0)

Also, glad you hear you say you don't suck, and not just because that clearly means I will love the album.

Boy, I wish I could be at school days! I'm really trying to be optomistic and keep an open mind, but dammit I'm gonna miss you this year... in general, but I really love watching you joust :(

Ahhh, so that's what a whistle pig is. I did think it was a cool word.
