This announcement will not affect most of you - frankly, it likely won't affect any of you. Just me. Nevertheless, here it is: I'm not doing Faire this summer. Don and I are taking a year off, after which time we shall see what we shall see. *

In the meantime, this allows me to go to my oldest nephew's graduation in Florida, and perhaps to go to Disney World (no, I've never been) and to WizardWorld in Philadelphia. I'll still be around to help out with joust training, should the team so desire.

This is not an easy decision. It hurts my heart. But, it is the right decision. Nothing is forever, not my run at the Faire nor my time away from it.

*It is possible there will be a weepy "I'm not a jouster or sword-fighter anymore so what the hell (good) am I?" angsty post somewhere in the not-too-distant future.

*hugs because even right decisions can be hard and painful to make*

It is a tough choice, and people will be disappointed -- but you have to do what you have to do. I am sure everything will work out.

Wow, never been to Disney World? Yeah, make time for that.

See, the important thing here is that you recognize priorities. Our Performing Company Director here at Scarborough is one of the first people to say that 'The real world' comes ahead of this play we do.

Not that it makes the decision not to play any easier. I'm glad I don't have to make it yet, but soon, I may have to. Hopefully I will make the right decision. Even if it hurts.

I think you made the correct call too. Family is important. 'You' time is important. 'You & Don' time is also important. You are getting something many of us long for: A summer of our own.

Revel in it, Kel. Yes, there will be sadness because of what you are missing, but take that time and do something with it. All those changes you've wanted to make on the house. Finish that Novel you've been writing. Heck, just spend a weekend Vegged out on the couch.

Coz that's important, too!

*hugs*

I'm sorry I've never been able to make it up to the faire to see you. I'll try not to be sappy, but I have to say: having sort of grown up knowing that you (a real-life kick-ass shero!) were out there doing your thing has perhaps had a positive impact on my life, on some level. I salute your awesomeness. You'll always be Lady Marian, sword-fighter and jouster extraordinaire, in my mind.

That said, moving on is just something we all have to do (I'm sure you know that far better than I). And I wish you luck and joy in whatever you choose to do.

Anyway. Thanks for being a role model for us "younger sheroes" (I'm feeling nostalgic about the fact that I joined the message board when I was eleven, about four years ago this weekend, which is a long time for little me). And I hope all goes well!

*loves* it must have been tough, darlin, and we'll all miss you terribly. There will be no other mari to compare ;)

You? Will love Disney. Don't forget to drink your way 'round Epcot!

You absolutely have to do whatever it is you have to do, for yourselves. No one can blame you for that.

We CAN miss you, and we will. Oh g*d will we miss you.

The Foundry will think of you every morning, and every evening. Maybe I'll buy a unicycle and just hang it from the window...

Much luck and love for a summer of YOU.

You'll always be a jouster and a sword-fighter and Maid Marian, kel. <3

((and possibly, if you DO come down to disney world, I would be honored to show you around the parks one day.))

To THE Maid Marian
I for one will miss you this year as well. But will remember to cheer you replacement this year. At least I promise to try. Hopefully you'll have fun and enjoy the summer and if you decide to return to the Faire, do so feeling refreshed and looking forward to it once more.

Tell Don we'll miss him too this year, his humor has been very enjoyable an I'll be missing that immensely.

A little sad, but very happy for you.
I'll miss watching you perform...
But I think this is so exciting for you and Don.

::hugs:: for the tough decision.

Disney World in the summer -- a bit humid, but you deserve the break. And what/where is Wizardworld?

Like I think everyone else here has said, you need to do what is right for you. Enjoy your time and remember that even if you are not actively doing it, you still are a jouster and a swordfighter, and you will always be that...and aside from that, you are so much more. You are a wonderful talented person. You are you, whether you are jousting or not....and making the right decision, doing something that may be tough...well, that's what heroes do.
Entropyi_am_entropy on January 29th, 2006 02:30 pm (UTC)
You'll be missed at Faire, but I am glad you are doing what is right for you. I've only been to Disnay once but it was a *blast*. I think you will really enjoy it.
melkorspawn on January 29th, 2006 05:15 pm (UTC)
It makes me happy when people who contantly go out of their way to do things for others can allow themselves to do what's best for themself. That being said, I will miss you.
Clarkusclarkus on January 29th, 2006 08:09 pm (UTC)
I'm going to miss you two!

But as long as you come and visit, it might be as though you've never left us... just the long, grueling days.

Just stick around a few times so we can all buy you a drink at the knife.
Ilena Ayalanetsearcher on January 29th, 2006 11:48 pm (UTC)
If you never walk the list again...
Things change. On cast or off, I hope to see you at faire.

And know this: Even if you never go back to jousting or stage combat, the experiences will always be part of who you have become.

Methinks you have another list to work on... :)
Goddessavhi on January 30th, 2006 01:19 am (UTC)
Good for you! A Break is good. Though I know it will be tough the closer it gets. But do come visit? :)
