Leave a list of fictional characters in your journal that you would love to get a message from. Your flist's mission, should they choose to accept it, to write you an in-character "letter" from a character on that list. Then they post their own list in their journal and the process continues!

Keep in mind these are just a few that immediately sprang to mind. If you can think of anyone else, go to town. You've all heard me blither on about books/comics/movies often enough.

My Dearest Kelly,

Do you remember when we met? I certainly remember the first time I laid eyes on you. I was in another world and you? You were alone in the dark. Oh, there may have been others with you, but you, my dear Kelly... oh, I could have picked you out blindfolded.

The way you looked at me. The way you saw magic where others saw constructs and fancy. You never spoke the words out loud, my love, but remember who I am, and remember what I do.

You wished with your eyes, my love. You longed with your hands, the slight tension in your fingers as if you would pull me from the screen and into your arms, your mouth, your heart. You wished with the shivers down your spine when I spoke. The power of the wish isn't only in the words, my darling, and your wish did not go unnoticed.

You have only to say the words, dear Kelly. You have only to say them, and mean them... not when you're in love with the lush greens and immaculate winter whites of your world, but when you're alone with your secrets, alone in the dark... say the words and mean them.

And I just might take you away.

Forever yours,
Jareth,
King of the Goblins
