serious Oracle

(no subject)

I chose the 'Pilot' icon (thanks, Erin!!!) because it's safe and lovely and Pilot-y. I can never quite remember that he's a puppet. Don't even get me started on Talyn...

Anyway, we had an NYRF steering committee meeting today. Was far more tense than I had anticipated. Many debates on script revisions, many different memories as to what we had decided upon in the previous meeting, much defensiveness on my husband's part (he wrote the RH scenes) and much unhappiness on Ann's part (she wrote the Court scenes). I drank lots of green tea, much water, and had to run out to pee a lot. It was a nice excuse to leave the tension for a minute or two. It all worked out, mostly, in the end. I still feel absurd playing to the 'a treasure far greater than gold, a jewel more lovely than any other' hype. Um... dude, the chick playing the beekeeper is way cuter than I am! The woman selling glitter dust puts me to shame. You get the idea. *sigh* It's tough being a mythopoetic archetype.

Tonight, we went out to our local pub to meet friends who were gathered to celebrate a birthday. It was, coincidentally, Karaoke night. Now, I've never done Karaoke. One of the women there LOVES it, and is really good at it, and managed to talk me into trying. Well... I sorta tanked. Ouch. I did the Dixie Chicks version of 'Landslide,' and I flatted out in the first two lines. Then, I settled into it. Kinda. Only, I forgot to sing some of the repeated 'oh oh,'s (to which I simply said "oops!"). Oh, and there was a part where the screen said 'Instrumental Break.' So I announced it. My friends then shouted for a dance break, so I obliged them. Vaguely horrifying, but in my head I was thinking "I slipped under the pitch in the first freakin' line.. how abominable could a dance break be?"

eep. Just that: eep.
