My house smells like Christmas: a fire in the woodstove, a fresh pine tree, cinnamon sugar cookies. I'm making corned beef and cabbage for dinner, which is not in the least Christmassy, but will taste yummy nonetheless. Now to go sort all of the gifties and figure out what I have for whom and what I still need to buy.

Regarding the aforementioned cookies, I've now completed two thirds of what I need for the cookie exchange at work. I'll make the rest Wednesday evening, 'cause heaven knows I've nothing else to do. *cookingcleaningmoredecoratinglaundry* Here's an exciting bit of news, though: I got a new cookie sheet. I've only the two good ones. A third, I decided, would make all the difference. And it has, only not just in pre-bake readiness. This new cookie sheet is Non Stick. My other two profess to be as well. I remain unconvinced. The new sheet, however, is so Non Stick it practically boots the freshly baked cookies off of its own surface and on to the rack. It is as if it is so delighted to share the cookies with the rest of the world that it urges them along, crying, "Go, you cinnamony rapsacallions! Go, share your yummy goodness with all and sundry!"

I hate cooking, per say, but love to bake. Haven't in a while because we can't use our oven. I grew up baking cookies on pizza sheets. I don't think Mom got a proper cookie sheet until after they bought the new house (well after I moved out). Love the smell the house gets after an afternoon of baking...
