LJ Interests meme results

  1. books:
I've always loved reading; I was reading before first grade. Books were an escape, an inspiration, a joy. Books are something to be savoured and something to be shared.
  2. connie willis:
She. Rocks. If you haven't read her books, do so NOW.
  3. fantasy novels:
My interest started, I suppose, when I was nine or ten and my brother read 'The Hobbit to my sister and I. Then he suggested 'A Wrinkle in Time.' It has gone on from there.
  4. great big sea:
It is impossible to be gloomy when listening to these boys. Bonus: they're a blast in concert!
  5. krypto:
I don't know that I can explain my affinity for Krypto. In the past few years, DC writers have been using him to excellent effect. What it comes down to, though, is he's a puppy. With superpowers. And a cape. What's not to love?
  6. oso:
"Hey, Rider! I made it onto your 'interests' list? Sweet. Now then... did you notice my grain bucket is empty? I'm just pointing that out to you. You and your thumbs." My boy. When I stop jousting, I am going to miss him most of all.
  7. robin hood:
Robin Hood stories of all sorts have always caught my attention. Getting to live part of it for the past several summers is just damned cool.
  8. stargate:
Got hooked on this last year. Fun show, nice character work. Oh, and cute geeky-type guys. I admit I like both Jonas AND Daniel (early Daniel is better, though).
  9. tamora pierce:
Excellent YA writer, lovely and generous lady.
  10. young adult fiction:
If you're not reading YA fiction, you're missing a lot of terrific stories. It is my area of expertise at work and it is what I tend to write.

So, didja ever read anything by Robin Hobb? I was browsing the Fantasy section at my local B&N and a complete stranger recommended them, so I bought one and read it, thought it was brilliant, but no one else I've spoken to has ever heard of her.
