Right, then. This Saturday morning I'm hosting the NY Ren. Faire steering committee meeting. I want to be Good Hostess and have a sort of brunch available (we're going on to a joust meeting at noon, so we really need to have some sort of sustenance at meeting-the-first).

I was thinking two kinds of quiche and some fresh fruit. Any other ideas/suggestions/recipes?

By the bye, I can't go with really bread-y sugar-y stuff (such as bagels or pastries), because one of the members is still on the Atkins diet.

Depending on how large the group is, you could still have *some* bread-y sugar-y stuff for the other members.

What's quiche?

Quiche is...
...egg pie.

No, really. It's an omlet in a pie shell.

And despite that I like eggs, and I like Pie, I can't stand quiche (rather like my wife and chocolate milk). Probably because it's a bit more complex than just 'an omlet in a pie shell.'

A Meat/Cheese tray is always good, though a bit more expensive than quiche. Maybe sushi :)

I like the fruit option, though. Maybe add veggie bits to it.

Salad? What about drinks?

Re: Quiche is...
Since the meeting is at 10 in the morning, I'm thinking of leaning more toward the 'br' in 'brunch:' fruit salad would be fine, but a lunch-ier salad might not fit the bill.

As for drinks, I'm thinking coffee and a selection of tea.

Atkins-friendly brunch dishes: fish. Tuna salad, whitefish salad, lox (smoked salmon), herring...

Hm. I'm making myself hungry.

Only one of the bunch is Atkins-ing (though I still do tuna salad for breakfast on occasion - yum!). I could do a mini crustless quiche for her.

There're recipes out there for self-crusting quiches, which deals with your crustless quiche idea ... And I would help, except that, whilst I know exactly where to find a nice recipe, it's in my mother's cookbook.

Not to worry! I already have a recipe from when I was on the diet.
