Crappy Work Story
A customer came in looking for a book for a two year old girl. "She loves birds. Do you have a picture book with birds in it?"

As I took her to the section, she explained that this was the youngest of three kids, and she didn't always get things just for her, most things being hand-me-downs. I gave her Lois Ehlert's 'Feathers for Lunch' and, because the kid is two and the book is brilliantly funny, Mo Willem's 'Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus.'

"Oh, NO," the customer said to the latter. "No one has time to sit down and read to her." I whimpered. I actually whimpered. "Besides, the last thing this kid needs is more stimulation."

EXCUSE ME??????? She doesn't need someone reading to her because, oh, it might stimulate her mind and her imagination?

Well. Fuck you. And fuck the family that doesn't think that sitting down for five frelling minutes to read to a kid is worth it.
