The propane delivery truck came today. I don't always notice these things, but it caught my attention for two reasons: first - something in the brakes or the steering or something sounded like a dog being run over (which, thank heavens, was not the case; didn't stop my heart racing for a good few minutes, though) and second - the truck wasn't from my usual propane supplier. To be honest, the first point concerned me far more than the second. Perhaps my supplier had contracted out to smaller companies for deliveries.

It wasn't until the man had unspooled his hose and was about to hook it up to the tank that things got strange. He came to the back door. "I just wanted to check with you before I started; this is number 48, right?"

"It is." I answered.

"Huh. I didn't see our sticker on your tank."

"Well, we're definitely number 48."

"First name 'Tim'?"

What? "Nope." Then, "You're not with Suburban, are you?"

"I'm with Wallace. Let me check my paperwork, but I'm sure it says number 48. 48 Cascade Road."

Ah. "Well, you're half right. Cascade's the next left, about a quarter mile up the road."

With that he respooled, got in his canine-crying vehicle and went to give Tim the propane that was rightfully his.

Considering how many other companies Suburban has swallowed up, it wouldn't have surprised me if they were your "new" company. On the other hand, our propane expenses have gone way up since Suburban bought out our old company. The price of the gas hasn't gone up-but we are being charged all kinds of new fees that we had never seen before.

I've not seen any new fees or charges, but I'll certainly keep that in mind!

I really want to install a propane tank on our property so I can have a gas stove and maybe instant water heater but the fact that there is no set price and regulation at least here in VA scares me. I think you should have just let him fill it up.
