Re-watching Series One of Doctor Who. I know Christopher Eccleston wanted to do a single season and be done with it, yet I can't help but lament. I love watching him, watching his choices as an actor.

He was fantastic.

I love Eccleston as well. I do wish he did more Dr. Who, but love his work overall.
I will miss David Tennant very much as well. I've gotten quite used to him and find he has some truly amazing moments in the role.

I really, really wish that A) Christopher Eccleston would do more movies of better quality (seriously, dude, GI Joe?) or that B) people would offer him roles in movies of better quality, because he really is a terrific actor.

And I guess in some cases it's better to do something for a short time and do it really, really well, than to stick around and decrease in quality or perhaps wear out your welcome.

Honestly. This guy needs a better agent, or at the very least a decent advisor.

Agreed. And the way the Ninth Doctor was written (so dark, so very broken), I think it might've been difficult to sustain. Series One was as near to a perfect season as one could hope.

I still mourn for Nine. I love Ten ever so (there's no doubt that David Tennet is brilliant as the Doctor) but Nine and his broken heart will always hold a special place in my heart.

I'm a bit sad that the new guy isn't prettier. Christopher Eccleston and David Tennet are both ridicously yummy in their odd ways, but I'm not sure if I can ever really find someone without eyebrows attractive.

Exactly so. One of the things that utterly won me over to Nine was Eccleston's whipcrack turns from heartbroken to delighted, angry to amused, terrified to determined. And I loved to BITS his relationship with Rose.

As for Eleven: I don't need him to be prettier. One of the things that pissed me off in DW fandom was the idea that Rose suddenly loved the Doctor SO MUCH OMG! 'cause he was younger looking/adorkable (and yes, I think Eccleston is also utterly lickable, so I'm with you there). I do want him to be a smart actor, and I worry because he's So. Very. Young. And, at first blush, not all that interesting.

Still, The Vast Toffee's at the helm, and he's a kick ass writer and lifelong fanboy and knows his way around TV storytelling, so I'm hoping all may yet be very well.

Though: no eyebrows. Fair point.

This is what I've been trying to put into words for ages. Thank you.

I keep feeling like I love Ten more just because I've seen more of him and gotten to know him better. But Nine was just so wonderful and the Doctor that got me hooked to begin with.
